More da-da-da with some da-da-dy thrown in. Daddy is on cloud nine and Mommy is jealous.
As usual, we had a busy weekend. We doubled up on BBQs on Saturday. First, we went to Auntie Josephine and Uncle Ryan's baby shower BBQ where I played with Clara (aka mini-Ken). She is three months old now and is much bigger than when I last saw her. Then we went to Auntie Annie for the end-of-summer BBQ. Good times.
On Sunday, we went to lunch and dessert with Uncle Andy and Auntie Healy. Ramen, shaved ice, boba... we are sooo Asian.

New York Trip June 2004
Start reading!
Day 1 of New York Trip
I woke up with a start at 4:30 AM! Ok, I’m going to face my fear. An airplane. No 9/11! I walked over to the sofa and got my clothes. I dressed, and I brushed my teeth. “My last brushing of teeth?” Well, I put my new Scooby-Doo book in my backpack, along with my journal, as I walked slowly after brushing my teeth.
My dad and I carried our luggage inside my mom’s Toyota car. Then, we set out at 5:05 AM, after making sure we got everything. We drove on the W 60 to S 605 to W 105 to the airport park place. The “rental car” drove us to Los Angeles International Airport, and we checked in.
We were scanned for (glass) metal things. My dad had to take off his belt! Well we saw McDonald’s and we ate there. I ate a hash brown, a mcnuffin, and a drink. “Gulp, ” I thought as I used the restroom. We had started to walk to our gate number. I got out of the bathroom, and I saw my dad, and sat down. At 7:45,we boarded the airplane, and it took off at 8.Inside, I had a drink –apple juice and yummy food Grandma’s famous tasted tamales. It has won my taste buds.
Well, the airplane landed at 4:15 ET. We slowly got our carry-on luggage, and we left. ”Whew,” I said. ”I made it. Yeah!” We went to the luggage drop off, and we got our entire luggage. We walked outside, and saw Mom’s cousins.
We were separated, Dad and I and Miranda and Mom. They drove us on the N 678 –Van Wyck Expressway. We got to our hotel, Sheraton, and we checked in. I took an inspection. It had a refrigerator, and items like candy and peanuts. Our room no. was 1519. I took a shower first and we walked outside to shop + find 40th Rd , where our bus tour began. We walked back to the hotel, and Mom’s cousins took us to our arrival dinner. I ate many things – thanks to my dad. I ate a lot!! We left after a bunch of talking, and got back to Sheraton. I changed my clothes, and brushed my teeth. “Maybe it won’t be so bad,” I thought as I slept.

Day 2 of trip
“Doom,” I thought as I woke up at Sheraton, our hotel at 5:45 AM.I brushed my teeth quickly, and got my clothes, all ready. I ate breakfast. It was some bread, and some other things my mom bought in LA. “Yes, no more high hotel. Now, we are going to Philadelphia,” I thought. We went out with our luggage at 6:30, and got in the bus. (at 40th Rd) My mom shopped for more things, and we ate all of it. (I ate) dumplings and some crunchy tasty stuff.
The bus left at 7:20 (AM) and we went over the Manhattan Bridge to the Manhattan bus center. We were separated into groups, and we had a tour guide named Alan and a bus driver named Paul. We left the center at 8:45, and arrived at Wall Street at 9. “This is Wall Street?” I thought. We saw a statue of (George) Washington and dad told me there was a wall, now no longer, on Wall Street. We left Wall St., and went to the saddest place on Earth – Ground Zero- Former World Trade Center (Twin Towers).
We saw nothing but dirt. “I’m leaving.” At 10, we left and went to Battleship Interpid and for lunch. We saw many ships in Battleship Interpid and we went in a battleship. It was dark.
We left the grave, and went to wash our hands. Then, we had lunch, some of Grandma’s tamales and Mom’s buying lunch. We went to line up for a boat ride at 12. They took a picture of us, and we went in the boat. We saw many things and we saw what we were waiting for – Lady Liberty. I was surprised because it didn’t look like what I had thought of.
When we got back on land, my mom and dad bought pictures for $20. They looked great! We left, and the driver drove us to Empire State Building. “I’m scared. I’m scared.” We went up up up to the 86th floor, and went outside. My dad thought I was scared of heights, so he took me for another walk. We went inside and bought gifts. We went in the bus.
Then Alan told my fear- a reaction of 9/11, but at the Empire State Building. Now Dad understood. We went to United Nations, and didn’t look at much. We went in the bus, and I slept after seeing Central Park. I slept because I really, really needed to go to the bathroom.
At 5, we arrived in NJ to eat dinner at Hudson’s Buffet. I had pizza, mushrooms, and much, much more. We left at 6:10, and drove to Philly. We arrived at 9:10.I took a shower, brushed my teeth, changed my clothes and slept at 10:30.

Day 3 of Trip
Today we were going to visit Philadelphia and Washington D.C. “The Liberty Bell. I hope it’s not as fake as the Statue of Liberty,” I said as I woke up. I brushed my teeth at 7:10, and changed my clothes. “This is going to be E-Z Philadelphia. But we’re going to the U.S.A. capital- Washington D.C.”I ate some breakfast at 7:30, and the bus left at 8.
The bus driver dropped everyone off, and we walked with our tour guide to see the (the the)Liberty Bell. We went in the center and got checked on glass stuff. “This is too much,” I thought. We walked in the museum, and I saw many things associated with the Liberty Bell, like a video about the bell.
We looked at the Liberty Bell. We took many pictures, and left the building. We went to see Independence Hall (Philly) and got a bathroom break in a park. Then, we walked back to the bus and it drove us to Washington D.C. We stopped at a food stop to eat lunch. We ate at Burger King. I ate fries ( I think.) and a filet- o- fish. At the last moment (almost) my mom bought a supreme pizza from the Pizza Hut Express. We went to the bathroom and the bus driver started driving everyone to Washington D.C.
The bus arrived at 1:35. We went to the Jefferson Memorial first. I learned that Mr. Jefferson died on the same day as John Adams. We used the bathroom, and went outside to buy ice cream. Mine cost $2.60- a vanilla milk chocolate with almonds. I gave some to mom and dad.
Then, we went to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. It was unique because it was a garden and the only one that didn’t have tall buildings. We browsed, and went to the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam, and Korean Wars Memorial. The Lincoln Memorial had Lincoln's age, if you counted the steps .It was humangous.
We went all the way down to the Vietnam and Korean Memorial. The Vietnam one had a wall of the people dead and missing in action. The Korean had 4 words: Freedom is not free. We went back to the bus, and went to Capitol Hill – pictures only. Then, we went to the White House – pictures only. Then we went to the bathroom, and at 6,we had dinner in Maryland.
My mom and I went down after we finished dinner, to buy breakfast for the day. The 1st store wasn’t cheap, but the second was like 3 for 1. It was really cheap. We left the dinner place, and went to our hotel. I took a shower, changed my clothes, brushed my teeth, and went to sleep. I was happy- because tomorrow we were going to Hershey’s Chocolate World.

“Yum,” I said as I woke up at 6. We’re going to Hershey’s chocolate world and Niagara Falls. “It’s my lucky day, “ I thought as I changed my clothes and brushed my teeth. I started to eat breakfast. I thought, “Why do I have to drink Soy Bean Drink.” Well, we waited for Miranda to hurry and we left the hotel. We got on the bus at 6:55. At 7, we started to go to the Hershey’s Chocolate World in the town of Hershey. At 9, we got to Hershey’s. We went inside at 9:02. We went to the bathroom, and then we went inside the ride “Chocolate World” at 9:09. When we finished the ride, we got a piece of chocolate.
Then, we went to the gift shop. We bought chocolate and cups. We left at 10. Then, the bus driver drove us to Corning Glass Museum. We stopped at 12 for sandwiches. My mom shopped for fruits.
We left at 12:50, and we got to Corning Glass Museum at 2:45. I saw glass everywhere. We looked around during a thunderstorm. We saw a glass show, and saw how glass was made. We left at 4:40. Now we were heading for Niagara Falls. We stopped for dinner at 8, and left at 8:50. I had a bad stomachache, so I didn’t eat much.
Next we went to Niagara Falls at 9:10 PM. We saw it at night. It was cool. We left at 9:35, and got to the hotel in Buffalo at 10:30. I took a shower at 10:40, brushed my teeth at 11:15, and slept at 12:10 AM. Day 5 of trip
Today we’re going to Niagara Falls and Toronto “Yeah. We’re going to get wet today.” I thought. I ate my breakfast. “These hotels must have been so good they made a bus tour night stop, right?” I thought again. We got our luggage, and went on the bus. “Today was the last day we were going to be in the U.S. on the bus tour,” I told my dad. The bus started to go to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. “Dad we’re on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.” I pointed to the Falls.
The bus driver dropped us off. We went to get raincoats, and went on the boat Maid of the Mist. The boat took us to one of the falls.(American, Horseshoe ? ) We got wet with the air water. It felt pretty good. My dad kept on telling me, "Don't worry. We're going to get wet anyway. We had had went beside the greatest, largest falls. I felt like someone was throwing water at me. It was cool. I tried to touch some of the water and it came to my face. My mom managed to get pictures. We went back to land and Miranda asked if we were going again.
It was fun getting wet. But I knew we didn’t have time. We went back to the bus and it drove us to Skyline tower. We went up and went outside. We saw most of Niagara Falls. It was an incredible sight.
We went all the way down, and went next door to an IMAX theater to watch a movie. The movie was called Niagara Falls. We watched portions of stories that were said to have done with Niagara Falls. One was about a boat trip. Their boat flooded. The person fell down the falls, and a boat rescued her. The other one was helped before the falls. The other one died. It was a true story.
Another one was about going down Niagara Falls in a barrel. It was successful. One more was about walking over Niagara Falls. It was also dangerous. We left the theater at 1. We went to lunch. We ate in a cafeteria. I ate macaroni and cheese. It tasted horrible. I looked outside. We had a low view of Canada Niagara Falls. We walked outside and we saw a perfect view of Niagara Falls. It was like visiting the world in 300 days.
We left headed for Toronto. We got there at 4:35 and took a boat ride. There was a castle and many trees. We went to CN tower. We saw the St. Lawrence River, and a view of Toronto. There was a glass 85th floor. We could c the bottom. It wasn’t really scary. Mom and dad were scared. We went down and got on the bus. We went to dinner. We went somewhere else to eat mein. It was pretty good
Mom and I shopped for fruits. Kiwis, lychee, mangos, and other stuff. We went back to the restaurant, and 3 policemen gave Miranda and I a police card. We said thanks and went to the bus. Mom bought some other stuff and reported we had run out of Canadian money.
We went to the hotel, and had some of the fruits Mom had bought. They were good, because whether Mom gets it is good.

“Ahh,” I thought as I woke up at 6. Today we were going to French territory. I slept again and woke up at 6:30. I hurried and ate and we went down to the bus. Today’s first shop was 1,000 Is.
I had slept again and was woken by my dad when we got to 1,000 Is. We got on a boat and I saw castles, houses, and many trees. We were on a river. I thought, “Why are there so many boat trips?”
We left and went to a lunch stop. We went to Kentucky Fried Chicken to eat lunch. I had 2 pieces of chicken, grape bread, and some fries. It tasted good, like our KFC restaurants.
I went with my dad to buy water as we walked to the store. It was huge. We left with some water and went to Ottawa. We went to see The Hill. It was pretty boring. There were towers. Just that.
We went to get on the bus, but the bus went somewhere else. So my mom bought us ice cream. It was good. I than thanked Mom, and we saw the bus. It drove us to Montreal.
We went to Brother Andre’s Tomb. He died at 91. There were pictures. He helped poor people get better. We went down 91 steps and the bus driver drove us to Chinatown Montreal. We went to a place Alan suggested. It was good. There were good food. There was some meat that were good. We shopped around and went to Old Montreal. “Almost the end of the bus tour,” I thought as I woke up. I ate my breakfast and looked at the outside view of Montreal. We went to the bus and the bus driver drove us to Quebec City. I went back to sleeping again.
At 10:40 we went to a waterfall. We crossed a bridge. When I got to the other side of the bridge, I jumped on the bridge. It was fun that I wasn’t scared crossing back. I jumped on the bridge many times and I took pictures.
We left the waterfall and headed for Quebec City. We stopped at Battlefield Park. It was a war with the French and the British. The French lost. We went back to the bus and went for lunch.
We had a French lunch. I had spaghetti, pea soup, hamburger, fries, cake, lobster, lamb, and some broccoli. We walked around to see the views of Quebec. We had over 2 hrs. We went down many steps. It was tiring. We bought postcards and looked around. “Pretty boring,” I thought as we walked back.
We went to the bus at 3:50. We headed back to Montreal. I went to sleep. We arrived there at 6:55, and went back to last night’s dinner place. We had the same things. I had some of the meat, 1 whole sunny side egg, and meat roll. It was better than yesterday’s meal. I thought of what we were going to do tomorrow. We shopped but didn’t buy anything. We went back to the bus.
My mom went to another place alone and bought treats. We saved them for home. We went to the hotel and we got there at 8:35. I quickly ate fruits and I slept at 9:35. (Or was it 10,because we visited Stephen and Winnie?)

“Why is it so early?” I said as I hit my dad accidentally. I wanted to sleep, but I knew we were going to have to go. I hurried and we went to the bus. I slept again, and when I woke up, we were at Duty Free CAN/ U.S.A. Border shop.
We bought wine. I saw chocolates, which I wanted. But my dad didn’t get it. Miranda’s friends Winnie the Pooh Bear and Stefen bought a moose. It looked so cute.
We left and a Canada passport passer looked at all our passports. It took a very short time. It wasn’t as fun as going somewhere else to see something. The person finished checking passports at 8, and we went to McDonalds. I wanted a hash brown, but there were many people so we went out. The bus drove us heading to NYC. We went to Big Boy’s for lunch. I had 2 pieces of cooked chicken.
It tasted like KFC chicken. I watched TV while eating. The channel was the weather channel. It looked like it was going to rain. We left Big Boy, and the bus headed for NYC.
We met up with bus 1 at 3:15 and it went to Newark Airport. It dropped people off. “Less people, More space,” I thought.
We went to La Gaurdia airport now. It took a little bit less time. By now my bladder was filling. On the way, I saw Colgate Tower and the statue of Liberty. It arrived at La Gaurdia airport soon and it dropped many people off.
By now, there were only 5 people left. Dad, Mom, Mir, and me were 4 of them. There was a woman behind us. When we got to Flushing 2 minutes later, I needed to go to the bathroom. My dad checked in and our room number was 1507. I looked around this room. It was missing a refrigerator.
After 20 minutes we walked with Abby, Mom’s friend, to Joe’s Shanghai Dumpling house. We saw there were many people. “This is going to take a long time,” I thought. But it only took us 10 minutes.
We ate dumplings and Mom talked with Abby. Finally we went to our hotel and I thought, “It’s getting closer to the end because the bus trip has ended.”
