Week 44 (12/10/07 - 12/16/07) - ...

*Yawn* Nothing interesting happened this week aside from everyday mayhem. I don't even have any pictures to share as Mommy and daddy dropped the ball and didn't take any. This does give me an opportunity to catch up on my blog post for the past two weeks though. See you all next week.

Week 43 (12/3/07 - 12/9/07) - Let the Christmas countdown begin...

We went to a holiday dinner with some of mommy's high school friends at the Pasta Pomodoro in Huntington Beach. Dinner was nice and everyone exchanged gifts. Baby Clara was there. Now that she is 6 months old, she was more interactive and fun the play with. I also met baby Alex (1 month) for the first time, who is Auntie Josephine and Uncle Ryan's pride and joy. He is tiny and cute. I need to teach him how to cry though. His was pretty weak. A good wail needs to come from the heart and the diaphragm. You have got to sell it. Trust me, I know.

Mommy and daddy, it will be my birthday next, so throw me a good party too, okay?

I learned to pull myself up to stand this week. I am one baby step closer to outrunning mommy and daddy.

Uncle Andy and Auntie Tina came over to visit with their baby, Nicole. Nicole was sleeping most of the time she was here. Can't wait for her to get bigger so that we can play together.

I have some cool action videos this week. See my pictures and videos from Week 41. My pictures are also available on Shutterfly.

Mommy and daddy took me to The Grove Sunday afternoon to check out the Christmas decorations. There was a huge Christmas tree with some gigantic ornaments. Awesome! Too bad we didn't stay for the tree lighting ceremony to see all the performances and fireworks. Oh well, maybe next year.

Week 38 (10/29/07 - 11/04/07) - 1st Holloween

Hiya. Wednesday was my first Halloween. Mommy dressed me up as a little piggy and took me to the mall to trick-or-treat. We got a bunch of candy that I can't eat. Sweet.

I was going to lose daddy to the Bay Area again this weekend, but he had a change of heart last minute and stayed home to get some much needed rest. It turned out to be a fun weekend for me, but he was bummed that he had to miss Uncle Peter and Auntie Carol's wedding plus Audrey Horn's three month old party. His loss, my gain. :-)

Even though I had just figured out how to worm crawl forward last Sunday night, I have already mastered it by mid-week. It won't be long before I learn to crawl on my hands and knees instead of on my stomach.

I have also learned to pull myself up into a upright kneeling position. Daddy, you had better lower my crib before I climb out on my own... by accident! (To which daddy responds, "What is the point? It is not like you sleep in your crib anyways.")

Lastly, I learned to hold on to more than one item at a time. Until this week, I had to drop whatever I was holding before I can pick up the next item. Not anymore. I can now hold two items at a time, one in each hand. Mommy, daddy, I am ready for my drum set now.

You can see pictures and videos of me playing the air drum in this week's archive. In fact, I have tons of funny pictures and videos from Week 38 to share with you all. My pictures are also available on Shutterfly. Check them out!

After lunch, Uncle Dan, Auntie Cora, Evan, mommy, daddy, and I all went to Downtown Disney in hopes of seeing some Holloween decorations. What a jip?! We saw squat! Disneyland may be the happiest place on earth, but Downtown Disney is just lame.

BTW, I finally figured out how to worm crawl forward Sunday night. I guess watching Ryan and Evan walked around all afternoon was the motivation that I needed to get my butt off the ground... literally.

She is three months old now and is much bigger than when I last saw her. Then we went to Auntie Annie for the end-of-summer BBQ. Good times.

Meanwhile, Auntie Tina and Uncle Andrew (collectively known as tinandrew) are expecting a little girl, Nicole Tran, at the end of October. I can't wait to play with my new victims.. ahem, I mean.. playmates.

On Saturday, we went to tinandrew's baby shower and watched the Cal and USC football teams narrowly beat their opponents. Go Bears! Go Trojans! Go Bears!

We met up with Uncle Dan, Auntie Cora, Evan, Uncle Mike, Auntie Hilda, and Ryan at Manhattan Beach to have lunch and hang out for the afternoon. I haven't see Evan and Ryan for a couple of months. Evan has been walking for a while and Ryan is crawling like a champ and close to being able to stand up on his own. I, of course, can't do anything of those things. Instead, I sat, watched, and sucked my toes. Mmm.. yummy. It was a fun afternoon though. We saw the beach, and ocean, and an aquarium.

Bad habits update: As a result of sleeping with mommy and daddy in one bed during our Bay Area trips, I no longer want to sleep by myself in my crib. The list now reads:
1) No bottles
2) No falling asleep unless someone carries me
3) No sleeping until midnight or 1am
4) No sleeping in my own crib

What behavior modification?

I totally agree that Ben Bernanke and the Fed should cut the Fed Fund Rate 25 - 50 basis point in order to alleviate the current credit crunch set off by the sub-prime lending crisis. What mommy? You look confused.

9/15 Sat - Uncle Vince, daddy, mommy, and I went to Auntie Martha and Uncle Billy's wedding in Napa. The wedding was beautiful, simple, elegant, relaxed, fun, and intimate. The scenery and the weather were also perfect. It was just a great ceremony.

9/16 Sun - Snoopy, snoopy, and more snoopys. We drove back to Santa Rosa with Uncle Keno and Auntie Julie to check out the Snoopy exhibit. There were close to 100 Snoopy statues on display. I am officially snooped out. Check out the tons of Snoopy pictures.

We ate dinner with Auntie Sandin and Uncle Rex. Auntie Sandin thinks daddy will be a push-over dad. Hehe.

9/6 Thurs - Had lunch with Auntie Linh at Zachary's Pizza. Deep dish pizza... if only I can eat solid food, I would probably say YUMMO!!! Visited Auntie Linh's work, CPS (College Preparatory School). So nice. $26k/yr can sure get you a good education. Scholarship and early admission please. Had dinner with Uncle Vince, Grand Uncle Wilfred, Grand Auntie Teresa, Uncle Eirc, and Auntie Michelle. Wilfred and Teresa weren't so keen on me calling them grand anything. Eric and Michelle are now my Facebook friends. :-)

9/7 Fri - Hung out with Uncle Willy and Auntie Karen all day, and then went to Uncle Eddy's birthday dinner. I sat on my first high chair at lunch. Aren't you proud of me?

9/8 Sat - Tried to go to the Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival with Uncle Keno and Auntie Julie, but a longer than expected lunch derailed our plans. Instead, mommy and Auntie Julie did some quick grocery shopping at Chinatown. Daddy hates driving in Chinatown and he let us know over and over again.

9/9 Sun - Going home, finally. This time the ride only took us 6 hours, and I was asleep for most of it.

All in all, it was a great first trip. I behaved better than mommy and daddy thought I would. I totally think they should reward me for it. I also got to sleep between mommy and daddy in their big bed all week. I LIKE IT!

8/31 Fri - Trapped in a car seat for the 8-hour drive to SF. Slept for about 5, awake for 1.5, and cried the rest.

9/1 Sat - Auntie Sabrina and Uncle Ryan's wedding. Met daddy's Bay Area friends for the first time. There were too many to name here. It was as if daddy had a second life outside of LA. Who knew? Anyways, the wedding was fun. I boogied to the tune of Bizarre Love Triangle. See some pictures from the wedding here.

9/2 Sun - Watching daddy play volleyball with his buddies was a bit painful. He sucked. Hung out with Auntie Vicky at night. BTW, Slingbox and the Slingplayer Mobile rocks!!

My whole family went to the Taste of Lexus event in Arcadia on Saturday. I got to see all these cool shiny new Lexus cars and then we drove home in our 1994 Honda Accord. Fantastic!!!

On Sunday, we met up with Evan, Auntie Cora and Uncle Dan at the Grove to hang out and window shop some more. It was a good way to spend a Sunday.

Daddy keeps talking about doing bottle and sleep training before I turn 6 months old. What?! This will be a battle of will between me and my daddy, with my bleeding heart mommy caught in the middle. What drama!

On Thursday, mommy, Uncle Warren, and I got to visit daddy in his office. I met a bunch of his co-workers and even got to have lunch with him at his usual lunch spot. Pretty cool. Too bad daddy works so far away. Otherwise, we can do this more often.

And now, the highlight of the week.... A QUADRUPLE PLAY DATE!!! Ryan, Amanda, Natalie, and I got to play together at Uncle Mike and Auntie Hilda's house on Saturday. We were all born within 4 months of each other and we are all CAL babies. Including Natalie's two older sister, Sera and Mae, we can form our own volleyball team. Wednesday was 4th of July. Uncle Warren had some friends over to their house and had their own firework show. I got a front row seat. I like fireworks. They are so pretty and sparkly. A bit loud though.

This weekend I saw baby Clara for the first time. She is only 2 weeks old. She is so cute and tiny. Mommy and daddy told me that I was once that small too and that they sometimes wish that I am still that small. What sentimental saps!

I was pricked and prodded all afternoon... blood test, shots, the works... I even had to get an I.V. (Thanks Uncle Sonny!)

Mommy and daddy took care of me Friday night and Saturday. By Sunday morning, daddy was throwing up too and mommy followed suit Sunday night. Needless to say, they didn't get to celebrate their anniversary this weekend. SORRY!

Meanwhile, my boycott against the bottle continued. Daddy kept trying to force it upon me. Nice try daddy. Better luck next week.

On Saturday, I hung out with my buddy Ryan again, but this time I got to hang with Evan too. We all got together at Auntie Cora and Uncle Dan's big new house. Awesome! Evan's play room is so big, colorful, and spiffy. I am so jealous. Mommy, Daddy, when will I get my big playroom?

I continue to refuse the bottle. Mommy, daddy, grandpa, and grandma all tried to force it upon me, but I held them off easily. Making me feed from a bottle? Who do they think they are? I don't care if mommy started work again this week. NO to the bottle, I say.

On Saturday, I got to hang out with my buddy Ryan again and also met a new friend, Amanda, who is only two weeks older than me. I have met Ryan once before, but this was the first time we were both awake. Even though I am the youngest, I am just as big and heavy as my two friends. They both seem so mellow compared to me.

On Saturday night, I rolled over from my stomach to my back for the first time. I guess those tummy times are finally paying off. I actually like my tummy times now, if you can believe that.

Sunday was, of course, Father's day. Mommy and I got daddy a great gift. It was a picture frame with a cute poem and one of my picture inside. Daddy LOVED IT. Mommy is so sweet and inventive. Anyways, we all went to the Grove to have crepes and to walk around. There were so many people out and about. We went into "American Girl Place", which is an over the top doll shop. Daddy hopes that I never develop interests for this place. We shall see.

Daddy told me that he loves being my dad even though I torture him. He says that to mommy all the time. Not sure what to make of this. Anyways, eat out of my palms daddy...

You have got to be kidding!!

The reason I created this blog is so that Lewina & I can share pictures of Cadence with friends and family, which includes my mom and dad who are currently living in China. What kind of messed up government censors to the point that prevents grandparents from seeing pictures of their granddaughter?

My daddy got sick last weekend so he put himself in self-imposed quarantine. I miss him. Well, to be more accurate, my daddy wishes that I miss him. As for me, I am not sure if I remember what he looks like, having not seen him all weekend.

I now weigh 11 lbs 10 oz and am 21 inches tall. I have almost double my weight since birth. Impressive, isn't it? I am growing up so fast, I will have my first boyfriend before you are say... WHOA???!!!

On a different note, I have more immunization shots than I can count during my check up. (Not that I can count at all, but I digress.) OUCH!

Finally!!! And my daddy managed to capture one of my first smile on camera too.

Mommy and daddy had been waiting 2 months for this day. They were ecstatic. Now they are acting more and more goofy, trying to get me to smile more. I am so embarrassed.

On a separate note, my hair continues to defy gravity.

Mommy loves taking pictures of daddy and me sleeping. As you can tell by the way we slept, I am my daddy's girl. He has been calling me mini-me for weeks now. I hope this doesn't evolve into some deep seeded issues when I grow up.

My belly button stump finally fell off, and I had my first bath this week.

I must be sleeping a lot. My parents can't seem to catch me awake when taking pictures.

This week I finally started to look like a little girl.
