We spent most of this week preparing for Chinese New Year and next week (my birthday and grandpa & grandma's visit). In keeping with traditional CNY ritual, mommy tried to cleaned every nook and cranny of our place, but this year she did it with my "help". Every time she put things away or organized a cabinet, I tried my best to clear out the content and drop them to the floor afterwards. You are welcome, mommy.

On Sunday, grandpa and grandma (daddy's parents) finally arrived for their week long visit. I haven't seen them since my first week. Next week is going to be very interesting.

I am beginning to learn to stand on my own without having to hang on to something. I did it for a split second for the first time this week. One more baby step to freedom...

Tuesday was daddy's birthday, but we didn't do much since great-grandma passed away the day before. Mommy did bake daddy a chocolate cake and we sang happy birthday.

Great-grandma's funeral ceremony was Friday night and Saturday. Everyone was teary and sad. We miss her very much.

To end the week on a positive note. We went to Amanda's first birthday party on Sunday. The trio of Ryan, Amanda, and I were together once more. Amanda is only two weeks older than me, but she can walk already. I have some catching up to do.

After Amanda's party, we drove to Auntie Tina and Uncle Andy's place for their annual Superbowl party. We won the pool on the Giant's last touchdown. NE Patriots: 18-1. NY Giants: Superbowl Champion. Go Giants!

My great-grandmother was a really remarkable woman. Every time she saw me she had a great big smile. Come to think of it, she mostly smiled at everyone. I wished that I could have gotten to know her a little more. We will miss her very much.

Week 49 (1/14/08 - 1/20/08) - 20 lbs...

... this has been my weight for the past 3 months. Now that I am crawling, cruising, and being more active in general, I am burning as much calories as I am taking in. As you can tell from my pictures over the past few weeks, I am not the chubster that I once was. Mommy is kind of bummed about that, and I think I sense mommy and daddy scheming to fatten me up again.

Even though I have been randomly saying da-da for a while, the first word that I actually associate meaning to may actually be ma-ma. Daddy theorizes that I usually say ma-ma when (and only when) I am crying and wanting to be soothed, and those are the times that I want mommy's attention the most. So he thinks that my saying "ma-ma" literally means "I want my Mama." He may be onto something, but, then again, he may be saying this just to make mommy less jealous about my first word being da-da. I think I am going to keep them guessing for a while longer. :-P

Week 48 (1/7/08 - 1/13/08) - My 2008 Resolutions

  • Lastly, I promise to be more diligent about updating this blog.
And now, an update on me:

I crawl faster than daddy and mommy can follow. Sometimes I think I can walk even though I can still only cruise. I can climb stairs. Once I even climbed all the way up to the second floor. I clap my hands when I am excited and I can wave hello and goodbye. Much to mommy and daddy's dismay, I love to empty our shelves and TV stand and drop everything on the floor.

I enjoy doing the raspberries, especially during feeding. I am a chatterbox and my vocabulary includes da-da-da, ba-ba-ba, ma-ma, ga-ga, and more. The most important word, however, is EH! Eh can mean Hey! or Feed me! I am Hungry! or Look at me! or Carry me! or I am ready for my next spoonful of food! or even Hi Grandma! It is not so much about what is said than is about how I say it and the context in which I say it in. You get my drift?

I am a huge Hannah Montana fan. I love to boogie to her theme song. It is so upbeat and catchy. I like High School Musical too, but not as much as Hannah. I love you, HM.

We went to a New Year's Eve gathering with Uncle Hansel, Auntie Betty, Auntie Allyson, and Uncle Robert. As usual, mommy and daddy stuffed themselves while I watched. Not fair at all. We left the party early but made it home just in time for the count down. Happy 2008, everyone!

Saturday was mommy's birthday. Daddy, Uncle Warren and Uncle Sonny took mommy and me out to dinner at Ducks to celebrate. Hmm... Tonkatsu... Yumm... Or so I am told anyways. :-(

I caught a little cold so we slept in Christmas morning and did not open presents until noon. I gotta tell ya. I love Christmas. And this Santa fella? I like him. He seems to be a generous and righteous dude.

Uncle Vince flew in from SF on Saturday and stayed with us for a couple of days. It has been a few months since I last saw him, but he still looks like daddy.

Also on Saturday, daddy and mommy took me to Downtown Disney to check out their Christmas decorations. There were one Christmas tree or two and a few ornaments here and there, but it wasn't much better than their lame decorations during Halloween. Mommy, daddy, enough of this Downtown Disney nonsense. Disneyland, baby. I want Disneyland. Not some commercially motivated pale imitation.

But there wasn't just Evan and me. There were seven babies at the party. Yep, count'em. Seven. In the picture from left to right: Ryan, Nathan, Me, Nicole, Jayden, and Hayden, plus Evan who was not in picture. I have never been to day care , but I would imagine this comes pretty close.

Nicole, Nathan, and Jayden are the youngins. Hayden, whom I met for the first time, is the oldest. I am actually the middle child of the bunch. Anyways, mommy cooked up a storm and everyone enjoyed the meal. Good job, mommy.

It was a fun day to say the least. Come see pictures and videos of our Christmas party. These pictures are also available of Shutterfly.

Week 44 (12/10/07 - 12/16/07) - ...

*Yawn* Nothing interesting happened this week aside from everyday mayhem. I don't even have any pictures to share as Mommy and daddy dropped the ball and didn't take any. This does give me an opportunity to catch up on my blog post for the past two weeks though. See you all next week.

Week 43 (12/3/07 - 12/9/07) - Let the Christmas countdown begin...

We went to a holiday dinner with some of mommy's high school friends at the Pasta Pomodoro in Huntington Beach. Dinner was nice and everyone exchanged gifts. Baby Clara was there. Now that she is 6 months old, she was more interactive and fun the play with. I also met baby Alex (1 month) for the first time, who is Auntie Josephine and Uncle Ryan's pride and joy. He is tiny and cute. I need to teach him how to cry though. His was pretty weak. A good wail needs to come from the heart and the diaphragm. You have got to sell it. Trust me, I know.

Mommy and daddy, it will be my birthday next, so throw me a good party too, okay?

This was my first Thanksgiving. Mommy cooked up a storm and prepared a feast for us, grandpa, grandma, and Uncles Warren and Sonny. Stuffing, mashed potato, vegetables, yams, apple pie, and a turkey as big as me. Everyone stuffed their face while I watched. Wait! What about me?

I learned to pull myself up to stand this week. I am one baby step closer to outrunning mommy and daddy.

Uncle Andy and Auntie Tina came over to visit with their baby, Nicole. Nicole was sleeping most of the time she was here. Can't wait for her to get bigger so that we can play together.

I have some cool action videos this week. See my pictures and videos from Week 41. My pictures are also available on Shutterfly.

Week 40 (11/12/07 - 11/18/07) - Am I a joker or what?

Mommy and daddy took me to The Grove Sunday afternoon to check out the Christmas decorations. There was a huge Christmas tree with some gigantic ornaments. Awesome! Too bad we didn't stay for the tree lighting ceremony to see all the performances and fireworks. Oh well, maybe next year.

Week 38 (10/29/07 - 11/04/07) - 1st Holloween

Hiya. Wednesday was my first Halloween. Mommy dressed me up as a little piggy and took me to the mall to trick-or-treat. We got a bunch of candy that I can't eat. Sweet.

I was going to lose daddy to the Bay Area again this weekend, but he had a change of heart last minute and stayed home to get some much needed rest. It turned out to be a fun weekend for me, but he was bummed that he had to miss Uncle Peter and Auntie Carol's wedding plus Audrey Horn's three month old party. His loss, my gain. :-)

Even though I had just figured out how to worm crawl forward last Sunday night, I have already mastered it by mid-week. It won't be long before I learn to crawl on my hands and knees instead of on my stomach.

I have also learned to pull myself up into a upright kneeling position. Daddy, you had better lower my crib before I climb out on my own... by accident! (To which daddy responds, "What is the point? It is not like you sleep in your crib anyways.")

Lastly, I learned to hold on to more than one item at a time. Until this week, I had to drop whatever I was holding before I can pick up the next item. Not anymore. I can now hold two items at a time, one in each hand. Mommy, daddy, I am ready for my drum set now.

You can see pictures and videos of me playing the air drum in this week's archive. In fact, I have tons of funny pictures and videos from Week 38 to share with you all. My pictures are also available on Shutterfly. Check them out!
