Roadtrip!!! Mommy and daddy took me on my first road trip to the Bay Area. So much happened that I will change format for this and the next two weeks:

8/31 Fri - Trapped in a car seat for the 8-hour drive to SF. Slept for about 5, awake for 1.5, and cried the rest.

9/1 Sat - Auntie Sabrina and Uncle Ryan's wedding. Met daddy's Bay Area friends for the first time. There were too many to name here. It was as if daddy had a second life outside of LA. Who knew? Anyways, the wedding was fun. I boogied to the tune of Bizarre Love Triangle. See some pictures from the wedding here.

9/2 Sun - Watching daddy play volleyball with his buddies was a bit painful. He sucked. Hung out with Auntie Vicky at night. BTW, Slingbox and the Slingplayer Mobile rocks!!

Anyways, I have now grown to 50th percentile in height, up from 25th percentile during my last checkup. Yay! I am still 75th percentile in weight which means I am still cute and chubby and I can beat up other babies.

My whole family went to the Taste of Lexus event in Arcadia on Saturday. I got to see all these cool shiny new Lexus cars and then we drove home in our 1994 Honda Accord. Fantastic!!!

I went to Auntie Annie's birthday dinner Saturday night. It was fun and I got to stay out late. Too bad I couldn't stay to play poker. I could use some new baby shoes.

Week 27 (8/13/07 - 8/19/07) - I have got bite!!!

I am beginning to teeth. Mommy and daddy first noticed the tiny ridges of my bottom two front teeth busting through my gums on Wednesday (8/15). Now I have a legitimate excuse to wake up and cry in the middle of the night. Sweet!

Mommy and daddy took me to the Tofu festival on Sunday. It was uncomfortably hot with the temperature in the mid-90's. The food wasn't all that either, or so I have been told. At least we got free admission and free parking. But can we please go to the mall next time instead? I heard there is this place called the American Girl...

I am sitting up pretty well now, and I can play with my toys while sitting on my own. There are some videos of me this week doing just that. A toast to my first step towards autonomy!

Mommy and daddy are stoked about my development, as they no longer need to carry me 24/7. 20/7 will do just fine.

...and Mommy, next time please pack enough back up clothes for me to wear. You are ruining my secret identity.

Daddy and mommy took me to church for the first time this past Sunday. Will someone please tell me what all the standing and sitting is all about? All in all, it was a pretty good experience even though I wasn't able to stay awake for the entire hour long service.

I am beginning to learn to sit up on my own this week. I also tried sleeping on my stomach for the first time. I don't think I will be doing that very often.

Week 24 - Escaping the heat by shopping?!

Trying out more solid food this week. Carrots I like. Peas? I don't think so. Squash is okay. So what's next mommy?

To escape the heat, we walked around the Arcadia Mall all Saturday afternoon. Daddy wasn't so keen on spending 5 hours walking in a mall, but, hey, it beats sweating it out at home in San Gabriel Valley in 90+ degrees weather.

On Sunday, we met up with Evan, Auntie Cora and Uncle Dan at the Grove to hang out and window shop some more. It was a good way to spend a Sunday.

Mommy and daddy tried to take me to church for the first time before we head to the Grove, but, once again, we can't wake up and get mobilized early enough. Hopefully we will make it next week.

On Saturday, I went to Auntie Annie's place for a low key bbq/potluck and met some more of daddy's volleyball friends.

Week 22 - 5 months old

I turned 5 months old this week. Nowadays, I laugh more and cry less, I actually play with my toys, and I flip from stomach to back easily. Of course I am still refusing the bottle. As they say, you can't win them all.

Daddy keeps talking about doing bottle and sleep training before I turn 6 months old. What?! This will be a battle of will between me and my daddy, with my bleeding heart mommy caught in the middle. What drama!

On Thursday, mommy, Uncle Warren, and I got to visit daddy in his office. I met a bunch of his co-workers and even got to have lunch with him at his usual lunch spot. Pretty cool. Too bad daddy works so far away. Otherwise, we can do this more often.

And now, the highlight of the week.... A QUADRUPLE PLAY DATE!!! Ryan, Amanda, Natalie, and I got to play together at Uncle Mike and Auntie Hilda's house on Saturday. We were all born within 4 months of each other and we are all CAL babies. Including Natalie's two older sister, Sera and Mae, we can form our own volleyball team. It was a crazy fun afternoon for us kids and for our parents. Uncle Mike, I can't wait to see the videos you took for the afternoon.

Week 21 - 4th of July, Fireworks, Woo-hoo!!

My sleep schedule was off due to being sick last weekend, which makes life hard on mommy and daddy. To make myself worth their while, I started to laugh and squeal more, much to their delight.

Wednesday was 4th of July. Uncle Warren had some friends over to their house and had their own firework show. I got a front row seat. I like fireworks. They are so pretty and sparkly. A bit loud though.

This weekend I saw baby Clara for the first time. She is only 2 weeks old. She is so cute and tiny. Mommy and daddy told me that I was once that small too and that they sometimes wish that I am still that small. What sentimental saps!

Week 20 - Happy 4th Anniversary!!

To celebrate, how about a dose of stomach flu?

Thursday (6/28) was supposed to my mommy and daddy's fourth anniversary. They had big plans to ditch me and get away for lunch on Saturday to celebrate. Unfortunately, I started throwing up everything I ate on Friday. Mommy and daddy took me to see Dr. Magtoto and found out that I had the stomach flu. I was pricked and prodded all afternoon... blood test, shots, the works... I even had to get an I.V. (Thanks Uncle Sonny!)

Mommy and daddy took care of me Friday night and Saturday. By Sunday morning, daddy was throwing up too and mommy followed suit Sunday night. Needless to say, they didn't get to celebrate their anniversary this weekend. SORRY!

Daddy, consider this payback for getting me sick when I was 2 days old! Now we are even.

Week 19 - What?! Where?! What Camera?

I can now reach for objects in front of me and play with them. Life will be so much more fun and interesting now that I can consciously interact with my favorite toys. I practiced rolling from stomach to back (from left to right only) some more, and, with a little bit of cheating help from daddy, I can even roll from my back to my stomach. I will start crawling soon enough and make mommy and daddy chase me all over town. Can't wait.

Meanwhile, my boycott against the bottle continued. Daddy kept trying to force it upon me. Nice try daddy. Better luck next week.

On Saturday, I hung out with my buddy Ryan again, but this time I got to hang with Evan too. We all got together at Auntie Cora and Uncle Dan's big new house. Awesome! Evan's play room is so big, colorful, and spiffy. I am so jealous. Mommy, Daddy, when will I get my big playroom?

Week 18 - Happy 1st Father's Day

So much happened this week.

I had my 4 months visit with my doctor on Tuesday. I am now 2 feet tall and 15 lbs 0.8oz. Amazing huh?

I continue to refuse the bottle. Mommy, daddy, grandpa, and grandma all tried to force it upon me, but I held them off easily. Making me feed from a bottle? Who do they think they are? I don't care if mommy started work again this week. NO to the bottle, I say.

On Saturday, I got to hang out with my buddy Ryan again and also met a new friend, Amanda, who is only two weeks older than me. I have met Ryan once before, but this was the first time we were both awake. Even though I am the youngest, I am just as big and heavy as my two friends. They both seem so mellow compared to me.

On Saturday night, I rolled over from my stomach to my back for the first time. I guess those tummy times are finally paying off. I actually like my tummy times now, if you can believe that.

Sunday was, of course, Father's day. Mommy and I got daddy a great gift. It was a picture frame with a cute poem and one of my picture inside. Daddy LOVED IT. Mommy is so sweet and inventive. Anyways, we all went to the Grove to have crepes and to walk around. There were so many people out and about. We went into "American Girl Place", which is an over the top doll shop. Daddy hopes that I never develop interests for this place. We shall see.

Daddy told me that he loves being my dad even though I torture him. He says that to mommy all the time. Not sure what to make of this. Anyways, eat out of my palms daddy...

RaisingCadence censored by the Chinese government !?!

Yahoo: China's censoring Flickr | CNET News.com

You have got to be kidding!!

The reason I created this blog is so that Lewina & I can share pictures of Cadence with friends and family, which includes my mom and dad who are currently living in China. What kind of messed up government censors to the point that prevents grandparents from seeing pictures of their granddaughter?

I will be 4 months on Tuesday (6/12) and will see my pediatrician. She will tell me if I am getting a bit too chubby. Daddy hasn't see my neck in weeks.

Anyways, big trouble is brewing. Mommy is going to start work next week, and I have completely forgotten how to feed off of the bottle. Who is going to feed me? How am I going to eat? Find out in the next installment of RaisingCadence.
